The majority of homes in the neighborhood were built from the mid-20's through the 1940's in numerous cottage and bungalow styles with varied roof styles including multi-gable, peaked, half-hipped & catslide roof styles. There are even a few pueblo adobe styled homes & 1950's ranches mixed in.
The northwest corner of Sunset holds Sam Houston Middle School and Sam Houston Park, where an outdoor music festival offers live music in the summer. Toward the northwest corner of the Westlawn portion of the area are the Sunset Art Galleries as well as Tascosa High School, my alma mater, fronting Wolflin Ave.
